Lease and License Administration

LandSquared provides comprehensive lease and license renewal services, and amendments / augments to existing agreements (for example, to negotiate more space or add equipment). We have worked on ongoing portfolios of agreements, assuming overall responsibility for renewal notices and negotiations, and on urgent projects to complete one-time overlays of equipment.

Site Acquisition

We’re experts at negotiating lease and license agreements, easements and access agreements. We understand how to balance speed with value and attention to detail, and we have successfully negotiated on behalf of our clients with most of the largest landowners and property managers in Canada.

We’re also adept at working with and complementing in-house teams, and perhaps our greatest strength is securing the right agreement on the right terms rather than pushing our clients to accept the fastest or the easiest deal. In short, we negotiate agreements that allow our clients to build their infrastructure on time, while assuring the long-term protection of their interests.

Land Use and Public Consultation

We work with all levels of government from the pre-application stage to securing the required approvals for our clients. LandSquared has successfully consulted with most urban and rural municipalities throughout Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. For our telecommunications clients, we have worked extensively with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (formerly Industry Canada) on positive guidance and impasse decisions.

Our approach to public consultation is always to ensure that the protection of our client’s brand and reputation is not compromised. We frequently work to secure approvals for infrastructure in close proximity to residential areas or other sensitive land uses, and understand how to use proactive communication with the public and local politicians to mitigate any potential controversy or opposition.

We have extensive experience conducting public consultation, including open houses and public meetings, and working with politicians to gain early support for potentially controversial proposals.
